Fotini is a 30-year-old woman, who has been facing a lot of challenges ever since she came into this world, since she was born with a severe congenital heart defect. By the time she turned 9, she had already been subjected to two major heart surgeries, while a few years ago, she had to undergo a valve replacement surgery, after developing infectious endocarditis, which led to a long-term hospitalization in the ICU.

Over the past 4 years, Fotini’s condition  has been stable. She would always receive her medication, while her test results were satisfactory. Recently, however, Fotini developed fatigue and shortness of breath. The 30-year-old woman immediately visited her cardiologist, hoping that these symptoms were just temporary. Her latest tests, however, revealed stenosis of the two metallic valves and tricuspid valve insufficiency. As soon as her cardiologist received the results, he recommended her immediate admission to a clinic of Thessaloniki, in order to be subjected to the replacement and repair of the faulty valves. 

Fotini’s surgery will be performed in a few days. She and her family, however, haven’t yet managed to gather the sum required for her surgery and hospitalization. As soon as Fotini came in contact with ACT OF KINDNESS, the Organization’s social and medical department took all the necessary actions, in order to organize this aid campaign which will allow this young woman to undergo this life-saving surgery!

Fotini has been through a lot. And just when she thought that the worst was over, she now has to face one more heart surgery. If this surgery is postponed, Fotini’s life will be in danger. We cannot allow this to happen. Let us all join forces and stand by Fotini’s side!
